A Gallery Shop?

The Gallery will be opening a Gallery Shop area in November. We want the Gallery Shop to have a selection of different craftsmans work available to buy over a longer period giving the public and other artists the opportunity to return on a regular basis to view or make a purchase.

For the first stage we will be allocating the end shelving bay in the gallery for the shop.

Call for Craftsmen and artists

The shop is available for use by existing exhibitors and new exhibitors, we will endeavour to give all a fair chance at participating in the shop.

To start we need 3 jewellers, a textiles artist and a potter to fill the space we have allocated for November. Each artist will be able to have shop space for three months, then another group of artists will be selected for the next three months.

Growing Your Centre, Your Gallery

The organisation behind the Gallery and the PACT Centre rests with the directors of the commercial subsidiary of the Pewsey Area Community Trust. This is a group of enthusiastic volunteer directors backed up by the centre staff and volunteers. They are the reason we have the community asset that we know is appreciated by everyone who visits.

The business of The Gallery is a social enterprise that to date has relied on the efforts of volunteer management, some staff time and of course, volunteer 'sitters'. In order to grow the business and its 'outreach' into the community we have made a request for grant aid to Kennet District Council. This aid is for salary cost for a part time Gallery Manager. We are happy to report that this application has been granted. PACT is extremely grateful to the Council and Councillors for this generous support.

Gallery Manager Initial One Year fixed contract

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities -

• To support the Directors and Gallery Steering Group to maintain and develop a programme of exhibitions and related activities to establish The Gallery as a leader in contemporary visual arts activity in the County.
• To ensure the smooth running of the administration, sales and database management of exhibitors details
• To maintain and develop excellent communications with management, staff, funding bodies and external agencies.
To provide a customer focused service to the customers, artists and craftspersons of The PACT Gallery facilities.
• The role is based at The PACT Centre premises, High Street, Pewsey.
• Salary £8000 per annum Three day week . Actual hours to be determined by the activity of the Gallery, including some evening and weekend work.

Staffing the Gallery

Many have volunteered and enjoyed staffing the Gallery. However inevitably we struggle on some days to get people. If you have not volunteered will let us know if we may call you to give us an occasional half day.
